Costa Dorada

It's not called the Golden Coast for nothing! Spain's Costa Dorada covers a 200km coastal stretch south of Barcelona and offers holidaymakers a dazzling mix of culture, fun and excitement. From cosmopolitan Barcelona to fun-filled Port Aventura (one of the best theme parks in Europe), the Costa Dorada has something for all ages.

Following a makeover that took more than two decades, Barcelona has transformed itself into one of the most stylish, dynamic cities in the world. Summer is fiesta time, but year-round, Barcelona buzzes. It's a Catalan city that's eternally on the edge when it comes to architecture, food, fashion, style, music and good times.

Formerly the regional capital under roman occupation, Tarragona is the largest city after Barcelona, and today it retains many vestiges from roman times such as its Gothic Cathedral, Roman walls and towers along the exceptional Paseo Arqueologico (Archaeological Avenue).

Beaches on the Costa Dorada seem to extend endlessly into the distance. Sloping gently into the sea, Costa Dorada’s beaches are excellent for family holidays, suited especially to young children and those of golden years. The theme-park of Port Aventura is one reason why so many families chose the Costa Dorada.

Salou is the most important holiday resort on the Costa Dorada, thanks to its magnificent natural setting. Long sandy beaches, sheltered coves and seaside hideouts surrounded by pine trees give it exceptional appeal. Cambrils is a smaller resort, but nonetheless perennially popular with Irish holidaymakers. Although today it's an important fishing port, it retains the air of a traditional fisherman’s village and is famous for its gastro treats and annual summer Music Festival.
